Turnout Gear Firefighter Gloves

The two common types of firefighter gloves are the standard work glove and the structural glove. Work gloves are not meant for protection in any way, but provide complete mobility for work that requires intricate finger movement: everything from writing to hose attachments and other general duties.

Structural gloves are required for active firefighting: they are constructed to prevent the hands from extreme heat or wounds that may come from sharp objects. Not particularly known for their dexterity, structural firefighting gloves are the last component of turnout gear to be worn as they completely hinder your ability to perform simple functions, like use buttons or clasps. Structural gloves are worn over the turnout coat's wristlets and under the cuffs for wrist protection.
